神の国は人間の予想を超える方法で広がっていきます。イエスが十字架の上で死んだ時、普通であればイエスの働きは終わりました。しかし、イエスは復活して弟子たちの前に現れます。そして、天に上ったイエスは聖霊を遣わし、弟子たちを通して神の国を広げる働きを続けます。それからもたくさんの困難と試練が弟子たちを待ち受けていました。未熟なコミュニティーや忍び込んでくる罪。投獄。激しさを増していく迫害。根強く残る差別意識。しかし、それでも、神の国は広がり続けました。「使徒の働き」は復活して世界の王として天の王座に着いたイエスが、聖霊によってご自分の弟子たちを通して働き続けていることを描いています。このイエスが今も世界の王として神の国を広げています。どんな逆境に思えるような時も、イエスは働いています。そして、私たちのこともイエスの証人として生きるようにと招いてくれています。

The kingdom of God grows in ways that surpass human expectations. When Jesus died on the cross, by all normal standards, his work should have come to an end. However, He rose again and appeared to His disciples and after ascending to heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit and continued his kingdom work through his disciples. Even after that, many difficulties and trials awaited those disciples—immature communities, invading sin, imprisonment, increasing persecution, and deeply rooted prejudices. Yet, despite all of this, the kingdom of God continued to grow.

Acts is a depiction of the continued work of the risen, enthroned, reigning Jesus by the Holy Spirit through his disciples. Even now, he is at work as the King of the world, expanding the kingdom of God. Even in our setbacks, Jesus is at work. And He is inviting us as well to live as His witnesses.
